Mariners Haven Limited (MHL) was established in June 1997 to capitalise on the tremendous growth in the yachting industry the country was experiencing at that time.
In less than two years, however, MHL switched gears to embrace the far more lucrative markets of
onshore services for the oil industry and tending to the needs of small to medium-sized
commercial vessels.
The services offered by MHL are channelled through ancillary companies, all operating from its
facilities in Chaguaramas.
Shore-based Support Logistics for Oil Companies
MHL itself provides this mainstay range of services, which includes warehousing, lifting equipment,
maintenance, tank cleaning, pipeyard, docking facilities, rigging as well as trained and certified
personnel and stevedores for all its activities. MHL’s full range of services is second to none, and it is
the only ISO-certified company in its field of business. Its Health Safety of Environment record is
also remarkable, with zero lost time due to accidents to date.
Dry Dock, Wet Repair, Welding and Fabrication
This aspect of operations is handled by HCL Industrial Marine Service Ltd. Within MHL’s sheltered,
natural deepwater harbour, this company offers the largest dry dock in the country, capable of
handling vessels up to 270 feet long and 56 feet wide, with a low-tide draft of 21 feet. It’s wet repair
and welding facilities are also full service operations, provided from a (350) foot jetty.
Tug and Barge Towage
A fleet of 4 tugs and 2 barges is operated by MHL subsidiaries HCL Marine and Taipan Shipping.
These vessels criss-cross the Caribbean with cargoes primarily consisting of sand, gravel and other
raw materials.
